ABOUT THE ART
The Journeys and Deeds of Jesus
By Rev. Andrew Pearce Stout
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
John 21:25

In this 1881 lithograph by the Reverand Andrew Pearce Stout, we are invited to trace the physical paths of the Savior across the Holy Land. Originally designed as a teaching tool for Sunday school students, this map serves as a detailed visual guide to the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, making His story more tangible and accessible.
As we follow the routes from Bethlehem to Nazareth, from Galilee to Jerusalem, we are reminded that Jesus was not a distant, abstract figure, but a real person who walked the dusty roads of Palestine, teaching, healing, and ministering to the people. Understanding the reality of His life helps us to connect more deeply with His teachings and example.
C.S. Lewis once said, “Look for Christ and you will find Him. And with Him everything else.” Our relationship with Christ is deepened as we study the life of Jesus, not just as a historical figure, but as our living Savior. By immersing ourselves in realities of the Gospels, we can better understand His mission and draw closer to Him.
Russell M. Nelson emphasized the importance of seeking to know the Savior, saying, “The more we know about the Savior’s ministry and mission—the more we understand His doctrine and what He did for us—the more we know that He can provide the power that we need for our lives.” As we study His journeys and deeds, we not only learn about His life but also invite His power into our own lives.
Let us, therefore, commit to walking the path of discipleship, learning from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. As we do so, our faith will be strengthened, our understanding deepened, and our relationship with the Savior enriched.
